I feel a strong association to those wild neon carpets from 90’s arcades and bowling alleys, the ones that look like outer space collided with a laser light show. They didn’t try to blend in and they weren’t subtle. In a room full of flashing lights, noise, and chaos, they owned their weirdness and turned the space into something unforgettable.
Design, to me, is the same. Playing it safe often means fading into the background. I’d rather take bold risks, sometimes even ones that feel over the top, because that’s what makes work stand out, spark curiosity, and stick in people’s minds.
