This project focused on designing a food peeler for a user who wanted kitchen tools that had personality and were aesthetically pleasing.
After multiple rounds of sketching, a line of cute animal characters with varied grip structures stood out. With user feedback, this moved forward into prototyping.
Magnets were embedded on the back for quick accessibility and also to allow for peeler to be displayed
Prototypes explored different form and handle sizes but after another round of user feedback, a refined handle and smaller overall frame was needed.
Textured foam was added to prevent any slipping and allow for a comfortable grip
Ideation & Prototype
Digital renders aided in providing a real manufactured depiction of the idea with a colored finish.
Marketing was considered, creating a logo and tagline to pair with the line of products.
The final prototype’s profile was cut using a CNC and the features were engraved with a laser cutter. The colored acrylic was fitted in without any need for adhesives and the peeler was embedded into the wood.
