Skullbasaur

This project focused on reimagining an existing character to better suit a specific user and context. I selected Bulbasaur from Pokémon and redesigned the character with a Halloween-inspired aesthetic. It was important to preserve the recognizable elements that make Bulbasaur beloved by the user, while introducing bold visual changes to create a fresh, distinctive interpretation that aligned with the seasonal theme.

Sketches

Starting sketches and characters were entrenched in Halloween themes. I wanted the model to have an intensity without entirely losing the more familiar Bulbasaur look.

3D printed base form was modified using epoxy putty. Vines were created with embedded wire in putty to provide flexibility during the curing time.

Process

Model was painted using a combination of hand-brushed techniques as well as an airbrush for larger areas. It was then sealed before being delivered to the user.
